Swedish Metallers THE STORYTELLER Reform; At Least 70 People Are Thrilled

Reformed Swedish power metallers THE STORYTELLER played their first comeback concert on February 25 at Club Wasteland in Gävle, Sweden.

"THE STORYTELLER is back, and we're sure all 70 of our fans will be thrilled," says guitarist Fredrik Groth, as a reference to a comment that was left to the May 31, 2006 news post about the band going on hiatus. "We're not really sure where we're going with this, but there's a pretty good chance there will be a new album."

THE STORYTELLER's current lineup is basically the same as before, except that bass player Johan Sohlberg has been replaced by Marcus Backlund.

THE STORYTELLER 2011 is:

Lars-Göran Persson - Vocals
Fredrik Groth - Guitar
Jacob Wennerqvist - Guitar
Martin Hjerpe - Drums
Marcus Backlund - Bass

During the hiatus, vocalist Lars-Göran Persson has been working with SCAR SYMMETRY guitarist Per Nilsson on a project called CATACOMB. Guitarist Jacob Wennerqvist resurrected his old band CRYSTAL LIGHT and recruited Persson as the group's new vocalist. Fredrik Groth has, for the last four years, been working on the KRYPTILLUSION project along with Mike Wead (KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE) and Stefan Westerberg (ex-CARNAL FORGE).

THE STORYTELLER's fourth full-length album, "Underworld", was released in Sweden in November 2005 via Black Lodge Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Tales of a Holy Quest" was recorded over a four-week period at Studio Underground in Västerås, Sweden with producer Pelle Saether. The mix was done at Studio Flåklypa by Fredrik Groth and the mastering duties were handled by Peter In de Betou of Tailor Maid Productions. The cover art was designed by ProgArt.com.
